*refrains from fratching worthy comments about christmas***

I got a job one SUMMER at a Christmas store, so we obviously kept x-mas song on all the time, luckily we had CD's and a 6 disk stereo - so, when I got sick and tired of the lame 80' and 90's one hit wonder bands' covers of the standard songs, and their own "new" xmas songs I went into the office, and before turning it on I switched out the CD's to all instrumental - the Nutcracker Suite among them - I was so much more pleasant after that, and told the boss, if he changed it things would go badly.

I didn't stay at that job very long - the boss had issues respecting personal space

*nods* I feel is stopped being about 'Christ' a long time ago, and Valentines stopped being about 'romance' (maybe never was). Something made personally, even just a note saying "Thinking about you." > then anything that can be bought at a store.
Historically, neither one has ever been about the religion. Christmas was either a retconned and rescheduled event to compete with winter solstice celebrations (thus the evergreens and holly), and Valentine's Day has always been a manufactured holiday whose only purpose was to sell things.

Although, in the latter case, the date was based in the burial of one of the St Valentines that was being honored, originally.

We have the same songs played in a continous loop at my job. I swear I'm going to snap and decimate all.

I don't mind the Christmas tunes. Provided, they're in moderation...and not because some station has to play *every* version of *every* tune. Also, I don't like it when some malls *cough*Washington*cough* start that shit around October. Seriously?
