More info about my blog commenting job

Ok so here's how it works(I just got the run down on how it works today.)

A company pays for me to go find blogs and forums to comment on for x number of hours a month, usually a small number of hours like 5. I make an identity, and in the url of that identity I put the site of the company paying me so if someone clicks on my name or hovers over my name they get the site. I find around 4-6 active blogs or forums that are on topic and make an identity for each. They don't have to all be about what the company is selling.(Like weight loss)

Do you get to respond and otherwise interact with the blogs/forums? Or do you show up and post non-related posts about weight loss systems/whatever the company gives you?

Sounds a lot less soul-consuming then it could be. You do have to like the forum topics enough to stay involved, but I do wonder if the click-through ratios are enough to make it worthwhile for the company.

And that's EXACTLY how we're catching spammers on The Gerbil's website. There's no website field -- but being WordPress based, it'll still accept a website field in the POST data. Website field actually filled in -> automatic ban. Oh, the irony...

My job in the company is writing blogs and rejecting spam comments. If the blogs you comment on are actually on topic, that sounds like a pretty good job. We're a travel company, and we get a lot of porn sites, shoes, and gadgets. Um, what? We literally get 200+ comments almost a day- and every. single. one. is spam. -sigh-

The comments are on topic. I'm paid to write well thought out comments, on topic, while giving a link to my client.

That's way different from the spam I'm having to sort through. Mostly just long paragraphs with porn keywords, 10 links with no text, and nonsensical comments in bad English. I quote:

"i read this page is good. more to write thanks" ...-insert 20 links here-

I deal with the same thing on my personal blog and it's enough to make me close the damn thing down. It's so tough to tell sometimes but seriously, if you include a link to a website that is not related to what I'm blogging about from a personal viewpoint, I spam it.

Sorry, bit of a sore point. My blog is about my daughters diabetes and the spam is getting crazy. The focus on the epatient is almost enough to drive me out of the blogosphere.
