  • Thanks for the black friday headache corporate!

I've grown to dislike the way my company does our Black Friday flier. Here's an example from this year: they are advertising an Xbox 360 and in huge letters above that it says the console comes "WITH 3 FREE GAMES!!"

The thing is, TWO of those three games are already bundled in with the system! Now I know technically what the company is saying is true, but it's still a bit misleading.

Here's a few "classics" from previous years.

A page on which they advertised a free 360 controller with certain purchases. The catch is that the controllers are third party, not the Microsoft standard ones. That one was a major pain because some moron put a picture in the flyer of the first party controller, not the third. We were instructed to give customers the third party controller and ONLY switch it to the first if they raised a stink.

As if that weren't enough on a different page it mentioned you can get a free $15 gift card with ANY purchase until 12 PM Black Friday. Then in the fine print it mentions a minimum purchase requirement ($15) to get the gift card.

And who do you think gets to be on the receiving end of the earful from customers who aren't too thrilled with these "deals"? That's right, ME.

I hate the tricky ads they come up with for Black Friday. Whoever came up with them should be made to work every Black Friday from open-close for the rest of their miserable lives.

I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

I am not entirely sure but I believe that may fall under cruel and unusual punishment.

Sounds like your corporate needs to hire some better lawyers. Hubby (not a lawyer, just the guy who writes ads) says that disclaimers will absolve the company of most things (like the gift card) but unless the controller ad had a disclaimer, it was false advertising.
