This was at the hotel, not at the pizza joint.
Had a guy check in last night around 6:30 on another clerks shift. He comes down around 10 last night to complain about there being bugs in his room. No problem, he was moved to another room. He comes back down a little bit later and says that room has bugs, and heads back to his original room. When I arrived at 10:30 last night, I was asked by the clerk to go check on the room and see if there were any bugs and to see if he needed further assistance. At this time, I spoke with him, saw that there were indeed bugs, and offered him another room. He said that he would discuss it with his wife, and I said OK and to come down to the office when they are ready.
I didn't hear another thing about it until 1:50 this morning, when an EMT showed up and asked me if there were any other complaints about sick people. I said no, and asked what was going on. The EMT tells me that there are some really sick people in Room 110 (the room the guy was in). I immediately call my boss and let him know of the situation. After the paramedics leave, I call the room and ask if everything is OK. He says that he called the paramedics because of the bugs, and they recommended he go to a doctor. He then told me that he was very dissatisfied and that he has had a horrible experience with us. I apologize and remind him that did offer him a room. He says he didn't take it because all of the other rooms are infested, which is not true, I checked an additional room in case he wanted it to make sure. He then says that he will be sending us the doctor bill. At this point, I'm just about offering him a refund, because I'm puzzled as to why he would stay in a room for seven hours with bugs. As of 7 a.m., when I left, I still hadn't heard from him.
Here is another funny thing about it, when he dialed the paramedics, he used the non-emergency number, not 911. We have a call log for each room and if anyone dials 911, it will beep at me.
It was just an all around weird situation.
