Oh my non-existant supreme being... I've got carollers outside work. They've only been here an hour, but they only know 4 songs; my brain is trying to escape through the top of my head. I wish it would try using my ears, it might block the noise!

We don't play any music where I work but the other day some lady's phone rang and her ringtone was Burl Ives singing Holly, Jolly Christmas. This was towards the beginning of my shift and I could not get that stupid song out of my head the rest of my shift. I used to like that song.

Nice job, swamp, for getting my hopes up on the Christmas tunes.

It's the same shit they played last year. Nothing but Burl Ives, Bing Crosby, the Andrews sisters, and various other moldy oldies. Why couldn't we just pretend we weren't gearing the music towards the deceased and soon-to-be-deceased?

The most modern it gets is the Carpenters and a rendition of "Baby It's Cold Outside" by Tom Jones and some female singer who sounds like she's undergoing a rather forceful gynecological exam.

Which is too bad, because they used to play some great Christmas songs I never hear anyplace else. Such as this one. Also this one.

anything after the first version IS torture (AND THAT might be pushing it a little). I know every artist/songster wants to have their own "personal" take on a song. some are OK to good but most IMHO SUCK (yes ater 8 weeks of continous short play list Christmas music I get a little stabby)
The only version of that song I like is the original Bobby Helms version.

I like a combination of the oldies and the more modern stuff. Basically, if it doesn't suck, I like it

Agreeing with Irv upthread, Aid of Rite plays some really great Christmas music that I don't hear anywhere else, but there's a few that can go DIAF. At least they've not done the "play the same loop of songs every 4 hours" that they did last year. Yet.

Trust me, it gets sleep-inducing. Especially when you're starting work at 4 am and thus having to get up at stupid o' clock.

And it loops fairly frequently. I know I heard a lot of the same songs twice today.

                    OMG U GAIZ

I really need to hack into the swamp's muzak system and play this.

Like right around 5:58 Christmas Eve night, but I'm not picky.

One year, the manager let me put some christmas music on the store stereo system. Guess she figured it'd be something different, and besides, what's the worse that could happen?

I put on some songs from the HP Lovecraft Historical Society.

I'm not sure the customers noticed, and a coworker called me several mean things until I told him to shut up and listen.

And I need to add this to my list of "alternative" Christmas music....
