Well I didn't think it was possible, there hasn't been a single raise in this department since I have been here, it just wasn't done (and from what I hear it has been much longer than just since I got here) but yesterday my boss pulled me into her office. It was right after the GM went through inspecting everything so I was convinced that whatever she had to say it wasn't going to be good (naturally she didn't even think about the fact that he had just been there ) but it wasn't bad news at all. She really went to bat for me when she was discussing her new budget and got me a raise. It isn't huge ($.50 an hour) but it sure is better than nothing and really does make me feel appreciated.
