  • Let it Dry?

A man was standing next to the trash can a little ways from the line. I asked him if he needed help he said no and pointed to his wife being helped in my (1)co-workers window. I nodded and turned my attention back to the line.

    (2)CW: "Bye anakah!"

I turned to see one of my CW's leaving and he was trying to be nice and grabbed a drink (that someone had left in my window) and took it to the trash. Now what happened after that was pure hell.

I guess he (the CW) didn't set it down as softly as it needed because next thing I know he is asking me for tissues. Remember the guy that was standing by the trash can? Well, a little bit got splashed on the backside of his over shirt.

    CW: I'm really sorry sir.

SC: What the hell do you think you were doing?! Throwing a drink in there?! Is it alcohol or water?!

CW: I don't know sir, it was just a drink...

SC: This is unacceptable! What are YOU going to do about it!?

My CW was freaking out. He was still in uniform, signed out but hadn't swipped his card to clock out yet.

I was getting alarmed because it was starting to get loud.

SC: *turns to me* Get your supervisor!

    Me: Yes, sir.

I go back into the back, explain the situation and the supervisor comes out.

SC: Look at what he did! This effing sucks!
And continues screaming until blue in the face.

SV: Sir, if you don't calm down, I'm going to call security.

    SV: 2CW, go back inside.

CW: But I'm off right now...

SV: Oh, then go ahead and go.

The SC was furious that CW just got to leave. He had a bus to catch...

SV: Sir, lets go to the security podium.

I didn't get to hear what happened at the time but later I made sure to get the full scoop.

When the supervisor told him that he needed to stop yelling the SC said he wasn't yelling at that the SV just had "good ears."

Later the SV got asked by the SC what they were going to do about his shirt.

    SV: Let it dry?

I swear to god I love my SV. It was an accident. Stuff happens. It really wasn't that bad. It was like a small sprinkle of liquid.

The SC stormed off and wasn't seen again.

Now, I do see his side. He's on vacation or whatever and gets splashed a bit by some unknown drink. He shouldn't have gotten very verbally abusive towards my CW. THe CW apologized up the ass but it wasn't good enough. I think the SC wanted a new over shirt.

I would be upset too but I wouldn't make a huge scene about it.

Now, had my CW been out of uniform and just a customer, would he have received the same treatment from the SC? If I were my CW I would've played the race card just to be a prick Just kidding, that's never okay.

My CWers were talking about it and were also wondering if the SC (who was a man) had yelled at a female instead of a male. Some of the girls said they would have played the girl card and cried. Ha.

I had another co worker who said she would've pretended she didn't do it and that a passerby did it. I don't know. I think both parties got sucked into a sucky situation and there wasn't anything either party could have done to make it right.

Well, obviously the guy overreacted. Was it a colored drink that might leave a stain? In that case he may have a right to expect the casino to pay to have it cleaned, since it was an employee in uniform that did it, but still, there's no call for yelling like that. And if it was a clear drink, once it dried, unless he was wearing silk or something, it's highly unlikely he would even know where the spot was. Not like he was showered in red kool-aid or something!

I'm guessing that since the SC asked if it was alcohol or water, that it was just a clear liquid..in which case, really, you just shut up and let it dry, kwim?

Some people completely overreact to things like that.

A couple of years ago i was working checkout and a lady came through with a 2 litre bottle of coke wich she had standing upright on the belt.
Now everyone knows what happens when the belt moves down because its a little jerky, the bottle falls over off the belt, lands on the floor and explodes

The customer was completely soaked and i stood there in shock for a couple of seconds, then cracked up laughing, i didn't mean to laugh it just came out.

Thank god she had a sense of humor because she started laughing too

That could have gone very bad

I think it may have even been water. When I saw his back later, there was nothing there.

pfft if it's clear let it dry, if it's coloured THEN you have a right to be mad, but even then over reacting like that is just uncalled for. If it had been me I would have maybe made a comment about the CW throwing a full drink in the bin (but I would have been nice) but that would be about it.

MAYBE I could understand a SC being a little upset, MAYBE ,it's kinda hard to be calm when say a $3000 suit has just been destroyed,(some outfits can be damaged by ANY form of liquid) but if he was wearing a cheap outfit MEH get over it....but yeah, thats my 2 cents LOL

Especially if it were clear alcohol. That dries even faster than water!

If it were a suit I'd understand but it was a ratty over shirt.
