You mom was awesome! He locked the doors AND demanded payment--that's scary! No, she did what was right and there was no SC about it. He was the SD (sucky driver) and that is unacceptable. Tips are for when you earn them not demand. Just yikes on his part!

had this happen to me when i was in NYC.. this driver picked the wrong person.
i got in, went from 63rd street to 5th avenue and went to pay the driver (and i was a pretty good tipper as i couldn't be bothered to figure out 10% so i'd do alot of "keep the change" = eg a $23 fare i'd hand $30 and not want any change)
this driver who i went to pay says to me "$18 (or whatever the amount was - trip plus about $6). i tiold him i as he has an attitude i would only pay the fare. he locked the doors.
wrong move buddy... i grew up on cattle stations in northern Australia. i have good leg strengeth fron rodeo riding in my teens and have been running long distance since.
i reared back and with both feet kicked. i broke the window and drew the attention of a close by NYPD officer who verbally raped the driver.. i ended up not havinfg to pay at allThe mere fact that we have the flamethrower means that someone, somewhere once said "You know, I'd really like to set those customers over there on fire, but don't possess the means to do it"

Taxi drivers. I have a love hate for them. I love how they take my customers far, far away from me, but when I personally use them, some can be rude mofos. Like once I was visiting family in another country when I had to drop off my relative at another hotel. Well the cabbie thought that we were going to the airport, some 20 miles away, and threw a MAJOR fit when we said we weren't. He complained how he was "misled" (by the hotel, not us guests) and demanded, yes demanded! money for a ride to the airport. I'm glad that I never have to see him again! Hopefully...Can't reason with the unreasonable.
