I once saw a car park INSIDE an empty cart corral. It was wide enough and the car was small enough it managed to squeeze in there. Though he must have had some fun time actually getting out of his car.
Seen that at the wholesale club. It was sleeting that day, so that may have been their "excuse" for why they did it. They still got told to move their car or we'd bury it behind carts.

    For me, it's the itty-bitty cars - nothing like trundling down a full row, spotting a gap...nope, it's a Mini! It's a Smart! Gah.
My pet hate is the motorcycles. At the parking garage at The Client, they have special spaces set aside for motorcycles on the first floor of it. I've driven past them, and they're NEVER completely filled.

And yet, invariably, I'll be cruising through the garage, looking for ANY space I can find, and oh! there's an empty, there's an empty, yes, yes, NOOO FUCK YOU, GODDAMN MOTORCYCLE!!

I'm thinking it was probably a prank on an employee by his coworkers, or some similar horseplay.
Agreed. I could see that being done to someone working the night shift (maybe his/her final night shift as a going away prank), or a birthday prank or similar. Considering the car's parked in a slot properly, there doesn't seem to be any reason to do it otherwise. Personally, if I had a car and came out and saw it like that, I'd probably be laughing, and probably have a good idea who did it (the guys snapping the pictures to see my reaction would be a good first clue. ), then get them to disassemble it. :P

I feel like any person willing to turn a spot for shopping carts into their personal parking spot would probably end up with some well deserved scratches/dents. I'd definitely stick my cart and any nearby carts right in front of them.

As for making one's own parking space, the one that kills me to this day was back in college - plowed parking lot, all the snow heaped up into a giant, space-covering mound on one end. And a beat-up, offroad-modded Jeep perched neatly atop the drift. I never knew who it was, but...way to go, dude.
When I was in college, I used to do that with my Mazda GLC.. Actually it was easier to do with the GLC, then my Chevy S-10 I had traded it in for.
Just sliding down the razor blade of life.

...and, I was immediately reminded of this:

I had a co-worker who went so far as to spray paint his name on HIS parking spot in front of the store (he wasn't a prick, he just did it as a joke and since he opened most mornings he almost always got HIS spot anyway).

Thing is he had a really small car so one day six of us picked it up and moved it to a different row.
