I asked to speak to a manager, not only because the music was LOUD, it was inappropriate for a family friendly place. *sigh* Didn't get the kind of music changed, but at least it was pulled back to a very quiet hum.

The idea isn't to drive customers away, loud music idiots.
If I make no sense, I apologize. I'm constantly interrupted by an actual toddler.

One that I can't find anywhere anymore is Ray Stevens "I won't be home for Christmas". It just vanished!
Here it is: I won't be home for Christmas.

I just looked up the album it came from on Amazon. It is a 1997 release, and starts at over $100.00 on Amazon. Wow!

One thing I'm grateful of in my job: we aren't subjected to inane carols on a loop.

At the moment, the kids DO sing Christmas carols with their music teacher on Fridays and it's quite cute to hear them do it (mostly because it's the year 1 class). Last week, they started singing "Aussie jingle bells" and of course I had to join in.

I want to teach my mob Six White Boomers next year. (Which is a song about a joey who gets separated from his mum and Santa gives him a lift to help him find his mum. Joey wonders why Santa unharnessed the reindeer, only to be told that instead he's using the titular animals (giant kangaroos))

It still works for me. Try doing a Google search for Ray Stevens "I won't be home for Christmas".

I like Christmas music (I grew up hearing it) even though I'm not of that religious persuasion anymore. BUT! I like it in DECEMBER and not one minute earlier! I'm very hard-core old-school on that. I like to enjoy my holidays one at a time.

If the music in a store was too loud I probably wouldn't go back there. I never bothered to complain because everybody's so brainwashed about shoving Christmas at you from before Halloween that I'd be the only one complaining. Or so I thought. I'll have to rethink that, maybe.

Meanwhile, my new favorite holiday song is the Christmas Can-Can by Straight No Chaser

I can recommend this album for all your Christmas favorites...

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra does a nice Christmas album. The Lost Christmas Eve I think it's called.

Sounds like the manager was either newish, was fresh from the backbone removal machine, or had simply drunk too much from the Koolaid
Considering the issue was Christmas music being played too loud, wouldn't the manager in this case have drunk too much from the eggnog?

You can sing While Shepherds Watched to a variety of tunes.
Eyelevel and the Archers work very well

It's not the music, it's the volume. I refuse to eat at Orange-Wasps simply for that sole reason, the music's so loud it blasts me out of the place.

I hope the employee's appreciated you in getting the volume turned down...
Frankie and Benny's is the same. I went there once, when I was 17. Never been there since. I'm 29 in January. The music volume was probably only a few decibels quieter than music you'd get at a nightclub. I suppose the only upside was that it was good music lol.

When I worked at "Shmesco" our PA hit a glitch one year.

It was digital and stuck playing "mistletoe and wine" for three and a half hours solid and wouldn't switch off. I was at a checkout under a speaker.

Damn thing was hardwired into the sound system too so we couldn't just pull the plug.

                              I loathe that song now.

I love our local mini-supermarket, the music is always a good selection, they have some xmas songs but they are scattered through current hits and classic tunes so you don't have nothing but chintzy carols, and it's so quiet that you have to really listen to hear it in any detail.

While the major supermarkets are pretty good with this, the mall near my house is not.

Their supermarkets are open until midnight, so sometimes I do a late-night run. Last night had a rendition of "Deck the Halls" going. It was either the system coupled with the cleaning or it was literally how they did it, but the rendition of it was HORRIBLE. Think "cat strangling with nasal interludes."
I commented to my partner back home "Whoever arranged that rendition of Deck the Halls needs to be shot."

The only two songs I have no patience with during Christmas are "All I Want For Christmas" (it tends to get repeated to death) and "Little Drummer Boy" (repetitive and NOBODY can make it sound good-it's also one of the only songs I will actively mute when watching the carols on TV)
