I've never understood where in corporate logic it makes sense that asking someone 3 times if they want a store card makes them want one. Did they watch the second Austin Powers movie and think everyone is like Will Farrell's character where he has to answer any question honestly if he's asked three times?

I feel bad, since I know the poor cashiers are pretty much forced to do it, but I really don't do credit cards. I did the whole "run up a bunch of debit as soon as I turned 18 and everyone started handing me credit cards" thing and once I got out of that hole I don't plan to go down that road again. All I use now is my debit Mastercard, and if I would get another card it wouldn't be a department store card with an interest rate so high it doesn't have the common courtesy to give you a reacharound.

The whole concept of store credit cards is just so skeevy anyway. They push something that gives the store massive profit, but offer little or no benefits to the customer. That 10% off your first purchase won't mean a thing when you see the 25% interest charge. Not to mention they encourage you to use it on every single purchase, no matter how small. No, Mr. Large Store CEO, I really don't need to use your or any card to purchase my $15 shirt.
