The bank who held the mortgage signed a contract to pay the insurance and taxes. Collecting the money for those purposes and failing to pay it out is fraud.

Not much of an update. Everything got sorted--they did what they were supposed to, after getting an ass-chewing by the local tax collector. I got out of paying any fines or penalties, since I could prove that they'd screwed up. While I was at it, I not only moved all of my business to another bank, but I was able to consolidate some debt (mortgage and credit cards) for much lower rate than before. Now, the asshole bank is bombing me with "special offers" if I'd return. No way that will happen.Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines. --Enzo Ferrari

Thanks
When I was at "red thing you use to unlock a door" Bank, they were only too happy to have me move everything over. In fact, they were pretty shocked how my prior bank behaved, and didn't blame me for flipping out and leaving.Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines. --Enzo Ferrari
