  • Wherein I am triggered

Had to stop at Th' Local Inbred Carnival for cough drops and a few other things. As I was driving through the parking lot I saw to store employees wheel out a Power Wheels car on a dolly.

When I left, the Power Wheels car was out of the box, half stuffed into the trunk of a small-ish car and strapped down.

And today is a cold and windy day.

We once bought a 6 foot tall cat tree and took it home in a 2-door jeep wrangler.

We were prepared, however. We dropped the top and used tow straps to hold it in place. And just because we could, we used bungie cords to strap a plush kitty into the "crow's nest" (the highest shelf).

We got many odd looks, but the cat tree made it home with no damage to the tree or jeep. The plush cat didn't do so well. It made it home but it was mostly bald.

I have taken an artificial tree home from the store in a very small two-seat convertible. (Not quite an MGB, but close to that size!) I also took an 8-foot step-ladder home in that same car.

In both instances, the item was well out of the roof.

I also brought about 4-dozen helium-filled balloons home from the party store. With my Honda CRX (two-seat Civic hatchback from the late-80s). Opened up the sunroof and my wife held onto the balloons while I drove very slowly. Some kids in the back of an SUV were whooping and hollering at us as they went by...
