    My bad.

The man of the household was distracting me at the time.
and what was he doing to distract you?

actually, never mind, I don't want to know...

The prominent picture approach is one I approve of. Just banning people doens't do anything to prevent future thefts-- this both makes it harder for the person to steal (somewhat-- not a lot, but a bit), and it makes potential thieves think twice about hitting that place in particular.

Ha, that reminds me of the time I was driving through the little town of Red Lodge, Montana.

Taco Time I think it was had on their huge Mcdonalds type sign "Don't take checks from "Dave Blanky", he has written 5 bad checks here".
A liquor store on US84/285 (main road from Santa Fe to Los Alamos) does that (not # of bad checks, just names). Depending on the time of year there could be up to three names on the board. My dad once asked the owner about it and was told that system works fairly well; most of them get things right quick if nowhere in town will take their checks for whatever reason.

The local porn shop in my town does the same thing. They have pictures of the people holding the items, they tried to steal. This tread reminds me, I have to go to to that shop, so I can get a special surprise gift for one of my buddies.

If corporate stores weren't so damn hellbent on taking it up the butt from customers, I'd say do it at every store.

Every shoplifter caught in the act should have his/her picture taken with said item(s) and that picture posted on a bulletin board either in the entrance or exit of the store. High enough so that no one can rip them down, low enough so that everyone can see!

I really wish we could have done that at the grocery store and the young lady store.

Jane Doe, caught stealing $1 pair of panties

Joy Smith, caught stealing $5 bra

Bob Jones, caught switching tags on groundchuck and steak
