Out with my girlfriend, taking our miniature horse/giant dog/rug for a walk. Town has leash laws for all public parks. There's this guy letting his dog just wander around as it pleases, no sign of a leash and the dude is not paying the slightest bit of attention to the dog. He is, in fact, something like 40 or 50 feet away from it and facing entirely AWAY. (Our dog has developed a marked dislike for strange dogs coming up to him, and with good reason. The little shits keep trying to attack him, just because he's BIG. He's also remarkably patient. The most he's done to a dog trying to attack him so far is to put his mouth on the dog, showing the other dog that it would make about two bites if our dog decided he was done being patient. We usually manage to get between him and whatever smaller dog is trying to approach, but if they're running sometimes we don't manage it.) So I call out to the guy when I was within hailing distance, and tell him his dog needs to be on a leash. He goes OFF, and starts winding himself up and a minute or so in starts making actual threats at me, simply for calling him on letting his dog run loose in a place where there are NO fences, and traffic close at hand AND wild horses wandering about AND it's the FREAKIN' LAW. I pulled out my phone and called 911. I think he thought I was bluffing about actually dialing, but when he heard the operator answer he RAN for his vehicle. He then drove it in reverse, the wrong way down a one way road to where he could get into a parking lot and get to the road without me being able to see the license plate on his car. I gave a running account of what he was doing to the operator and I think she was trying not to laugh there at the end. What's fun is that I have video where the guy KNEW I was recording and he claimed to work for the county here right before he launched into his threats. I want the sheriff's department to see this video, but on the off chance he DOES actually work there I don't want it to be traceable back to me. I think I know how to do that, so that might produce some interesting results.

If he isn't lying about working for the county I'm pretty sure that when his bosses see the video he won't be working there for much longer. And if he harassed you over this, make the entire incident public AND go for a restraining order. He sounds like a loose cannon so I wouldn't put it past him to harass you anyway.

My thinking is that he can't harass me if he doesn't know who I am. And I don't ever show on the video, and dude has zero idea about my vehicle or name or anything (whereas I know at least one of HIS cars, and it's an unusual color so it'll be easy to spot around town). So I'm planning to strip the meta data off the video, and hand it over to someone I know that is a prior county commissioner AND has pretty good contacts in the sheriff's department still. (I also trust this person to preserve my anonymity.) What's going to be funny is if the guy DOES try to find out who I am. I'm not on ANY social media except this site. I also have no police record. No arrests, no tickets, no accidents, nada. You're only delaying the inevitable, you run at your own expense. The repo man gets paid to chase you. ~Argabarga
