    Lace - you're in the UK. The way it's defined over here is that a price on a shelf or product is an 'invitation to treat'. It means that people can bring it up to the counter and haggle over the prices, but until a contract is struck (usually the shop ringing the goods up is enough) then the shop is not legally required to sell the product to anyone at all.

    Try googling for 'invitation to treat' - it's fascinating.

      Invitation to treat; Nothing at all like the "invitation to steal" that a lot of people take it for. XD
