What's Lettuce?

Sitting in one of the nearby Chinese buffets. In walks a couple, (I assume their) six kids, and a random adult.

The mother ushers the kids in, makes sure they are behaving. Very nice family.

Why was this sucky? Its moreso odd.

Every family member ate from the salad bar first, and when one of the -10yr olds sat and looked at his plate first, he said...

Kid: What's this gren stuff?
Random Adult starts laughing with much gusto.
Mother: Honey, that's lettuce.
Kid2: ...what's lettuce?

His parents and school system have seriously failed him.

I can't even wrap my head around that one.

Holy Jeebus!! Don't put any brussel sprouts in front of that kid. My 4 y.o. know most vegetables and some you wouldn't think she'd know. She even eats them and steals them from her mom and sisters.

Lettuce is what is added to burgers and BLTs to fool you into thinking they're really big.

Me, I pick 90% of the lettuce off.

I was at Subway with a friend of mine a few weeks ago, and no joke there was a girl there who was probably about 19-20, didn't have an accent and asked for "uhh yeah some of that green stuff" and once again "some of that other green stuff" while she was pointing. What is it that she wanted?? CUCUMBER AND LETTUCE. That was a total WTF moment for me.

Chinese food has lettuce in it?

I've seen all kinds of veggies at the Chinese place but not lettuce. Unless it was for a salad for a buffet but thats not common for that kind of cuisine.

It was a salad bar variety of lettuce =p

Most Chinese food placesalso serve Korean, Japanese, and Thai food in random types with their own. Such as the one I mentioned handing out sushi and tuna rolls.
