  • The SCs are following me

Thursday and Friday are my days off... yet even not being the real weekend that doesn't stop the SCs from following me, here are some of the choice experiences

most pathetic street race I have ever seen

On thursday I was driving up to Logan to visit an art exhibit up there and see some friends (and yes, we did go to Aggie Ice Cream, best ice cream on the planet). For those of you not familiar with Utah Logan is roughly 90 miles north of Salt Lake, the first 60 miles are freeway, the last 30 are going through Sardine Canyon, which is extremely steep and pretty curvey.

As I was waiting at the stoplight before the canyon these two POS cars in front of me (had to be at least 10 years old both and worn out beyond belief) were right next to each other revving engines, I thought there is no way in hell those two are going to... and then they did. I wasn't to thrilled to be stuck behind these 2 junkers as they are trying to make it up the hill in a race, but damn it was funny to watch.

not all was bad in logan
I did run into an old friend that I hadn't seen for nearly 2 years now... Aggie Ice Cream didn't have any lines (which actually is kinda sad because that would have made for some good sightings... people hate having to wait for that stuff and for good reason)

yes, I did wave at Princess as I drove past
On friday I went to wendover and as the title of this part suggests, I did wave while i drove past princess's venue. However, why is it that the same people who will go 80 through a construction zone in the city all the sudden can't figure out where their accelerator is on the rural interstate?

    idiot on the table
This guy had the nerve to say that if the dealer didn't take his money from a lost hand he would be a convert to that casino forever, that they would be like his new religion... ok 2 things, you lost now pay up you pathetic loser, 2nd WTF, the casino would be your new religion...

    i hate (3) californians
why is that (the only 3) people from california (that I saw on the highway on thurs an fri) aren't able to comprehend the idea that they don't need to run their brights all the time... or that it is considered common courtesy to dim your lights when you are approaching someone?

Yeah, I got that just as much visiting Texas as I did here in California.

The problem isn't that their brights are on. Most of the time, they aren't. It's just that they have halogens that aren't freaking aligned properly. Even though it is against the law, I've known people with misaligned headlights for nearly a decade who have never been ticketed.

Then again, there are plenty of asshats who run their brights whenever their lights are on who just need a good beating.

"Californuts"? ::chuckles:: I'll have to add that to the list with Utards and K'NYDs (Krazy New York Drivers). Wonder what my brother-in-law would think....

I've determined that it doesn't matter what state you're from. When you arrive in Utah, there's a 50% chance you'll lose all driving sense and become one of those crazies for whom the rules don't apply.

Indeed. Just the variety of driving styles I encountered around Provo.... ::can't decide whether to shudder or twitch:: But I think I-15 was my favorite-ever highway to drive on. And the state does have a soft spot in my heart, and not just because it's where my dad's from.

if you enjoy provo you should try davis county one of these days (I used to have to commute from Logan to Salt Lake... that sucked... so I know all the driving styles of Davis county).

and I understand the soft spot for Utah... I think it's one of the most beautiful parts of the country... then again I like all of the great american desert, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, it's where one can truly appreciate just how resilient life is to be able to survive there. Like my grandma always said, "the desert is what mother nature looks like when she isn't hidden under a lot of make-up"

Unfortunately it's likely to be a long while before I'm in Utah again. We're currently in CT for Hubby's grad school, and then likely off to Texas (Hubby's home state) for postdoc. And I have to admit my favorite scenery is in the good ol' Northeast (I consider myself a NY native, since I'd lived there since I was 3, until I went to college).

What the hell, did I ever do to you Not all Californians are bad. So do not stereotype us. Like what was said a few posts earlier, there are idiots all over. And yes, I hate those halogen lights. And yes, they are illegal.

For people that don't seem to understand to dim your brights when they're coming at me...yeah, I put on my brights AT THE LAST SECOND AND BLIND THEIR ASSES. And yeah, that's not a California thing...it's a sucky driver thing. Happens here in Ohio, too. And halogens are teh ultimate suck.

Maybe they're afraid of open spaces.

yeah, I know that not all californians do that and that people from all states do that... but on thurs and fri there were 3 people who did that to me... and they all had california plates...

and as I mentioned earlier, I grew up in Nevada where everyone blames everything on californians... and now that I'm in Utah I'm starting to learn to blame everything on the Idahoans... I know that neither is particularly right but i'm sure that california also has it's favorite scapegoat... and I think I'll cut that paragraph short before it wanders further into fratching territory (other than to apologize to the 95%+ of californians who don't drive live douches and update my original post for clarity)
