If you have to live with a HOA, be an owner, and try to get elected to the board. Have a say in what your HOA is trying to do.

Everyone out there should read a book called "The Association" by Bentley Little. It will make your head spin about associations. Much of it is supernatural, but it still makes fun of them, even though it's a bit of a violent read.
