I stopped at Tim Horton's on the way to work yesterday and I was running insanely early. I was about 15 minutes from work and had a little under two hours before my shift so waiting in line was nothing to me.
This particular Tim Horton's is in a gas station, so it's very small and doesn't offer all of the things a regular sized one would.
This means no food aside from donuts, some muffins, and Tim Bits.
When I got there there were two men ahead of me, and the one at the counter was getting four coffees. His transaction was taking longer than I would have expected it to, but as I said the wait was no problem.
He leaves with his coffees, the next man approaches, and the following takes place.
SC: I want a chili combo. (chili, donut and medium coffee)
Employee: Sorry, but we don't serve chili at this location. Only baked goods.
SC: Fine, then a turkey bacon combo.
Employee: We only serve baked goods here.
SC: Bread is baked, isn't it? So why can't I get a sandwich?
Employee: Because this is a gas station Tim Horton's and we don't make them here.
SC: *earth shattering sigh* Fiiiiiine, just give me a donut and medium coffee, black.
Employee: *makes coffee* What kind of donut would you like?
SC: Any one, I don't care.
Employee: *visibly dies a little inside and reaches for a maple glaze*
SC: No, not THAT one!
Employee: *goes for a plain glaze instead*
SC: UGH! Not THAT one either!
Employee: *reaches for chocolate glaze*
SC: Jesus Christ, I want B-O-S-T-O-N C-R-E-A-M. What's so hard about that?
Employee: If that's what you want then you have to O-P-E-N Y-O-U-R M-O-U-T-H and say so.
SC: Whatever.
Employee: No, not "whatever". You'll get nothing until you learn some manners. *gestures towards me and takes my order*
After our transaction was done the SC quietly said, "I'm sorry. May I please get a Boston cream and a medium coffee, black?"
And at that point the employee decided he was ready to be served.
