Parents? Hang on, what about the school? They were on a school outing, where were the authority figures while they were doing this damage?

I can see the parents being indirectly responsible, as having raised the type of child who would do this. But the school was the authority figure responsible for the children's behaviour at the time. They should have been controlling the kids and the school should be responsible for all of the damage.

The school trips I remember frequently had 2 or 3 teachers and between 60 and 80 kids. Do the math, there's just too many brats for the teachers to keep an eye on at all times, some of them are bound to wonder off, I saw it on just about every trip I went on.
