  • A comic book store doesn't sell baseball trading cards? *gasp!*

I was at my local comic book store. While I was looking at stuff, the owner answers the phone. I hear him say:

No, we don't sell sports memorabilia. We sell comic books. No, we don't sell baseball trading cards. Uh huh. Ok, bye.

I go up to the couner to pay for my stuff and the owner is answering the phone again:

No, this is a comic book store. Sorry, we don't sell sports memorabilia. No, sorry. Ok, bye.

I asked if it was the same guy. Yep. I laughed and said, "Didn't he understand you the first time?"

The sc definately should have listened. But there are a number of places around here that sell various things together in strange combinations. (like baseball cards and comic books) so it's not unheard of i guess?

The comic book store around here sells both.

But, calling the same store, twice, to ask the same question? Wow...

I do not see how the customer was sucky. Maybe he mis-dialed the number the second time and didn't hear the name of the store again. Face it, we do not always hear everything that is said over the phone.

A lot of stores sell collectables ... comics AND sports stuff. Not surprising. Maybe he was just going down the Yellow Pages listings and forgot that he'd called your store already.

Speaking for myself, I would have at least noticed "hey, this number seems very similar, have I already called them?" if that were the case. Sounds like a simple case of hoping the answer will have changed on the second try

Oh, yeah, I can get some places sell more than comic books. I cut the conversations short since I couldln't remember all that was said, but the guy seemed to ask a lot of questions that was sports related. And when he called back it sounded like he asked almost the same questions.

I get that he might have thought he was calling a different number, but he should have been paying attention when they owner answered the phone and repeated the name of the store. Also, was the same guy, not like another guy at the store answered the phone.

To me the should have paid attention to the number he dialed (shouldn't it seem the familiar?) and the guy who answered the phone.
Also, I'm used to people who call the library calling again because they didn't get the answer they wanted.
