Ok, this isn't as much a sighting as it is a hearing..

WMVN "Movin!" 101.1 started playing nothing but christmas music starting Oct 12th 2008.

Total suck! It's not even halloween and they're playing Christmas music.. I'm disgusted!

Oh my gosh, that's awful! I used to love Christmas music but I have a hard time with it now due to a certain radio station playing it all the time starting November 1st and working at a place that only allowed that station to be on.

I switched off a Chicago station that started this nonsense so early.

JEEBUS! This makes me glad that where I live doesn't get much in the way of radio. Few stations from Chicago but mostly Rockford, and none of them are insane enough to put x-mas tunes on early. Now the 24th and 25th of December they are all over it but other then that no.

Makes me glad I don't listen to the radio with all the crap on it. I'll take my orchestral pieces and never heard of bands and adore them thanks.

that happened to one station here in southern california one year.

turns out they played it nonstop for a few weeks because they were switching the station to a new format/call sign etc.

sucks cause the old station used to play dance/techno it was a good station.

One station near me (well, New York City but I get it) plays all Christmas music from 8pm Christmas Eve until 8pm Christmas day. Other than they just mix it in to their regular playlist starting around Thanksgiving. Luckily none of the stations I actually listen too is dumb enough to play only Christmas music.

I hope your station gets lots of complaints. There is no reason to start that in October!

There's a soft rock station in the Bay Area that does that every year. Though they at least have the decency to wait until after Thanksgiving.

I know I'm going to get whipped from all sides with wet noodles for this but I LOVE Christmas music. I even listen to it during the Summer sometimes.

Funniest thing was that the oldies station here in Phoenix was doing a contest in Sept where the cue to call in was two Christmas songs back to back.

And we've already put up our Christmas stuff (thankfully it's located as far away from most of the groceries as physically possible, so I don't see much of it until I have to put away stock).
Oh and on top of that, I'm part of my local community concert band (which takes away my Friday nights) who also marches. Guess what I'm learning to march to? That's right...Christmas songs! Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and some Christmas medley crap.
Speaking of which, does anyone here play flute and know how to properly attach a lyre?

Yeah, our UPS driver told me about that today. I swear, the Christmas creep is coming sooner and sooner each year.

Pretty soon "Christmas in July" will just be the start of a 6-month long season.

but that is different from getting crammed down your throat if you ask me, I too will listen to some christmas music (Read: trans siberian orcistra), but I have control and its not a constant stream, its mixed in with halloween and regular music. having a station play holiday stuff only in october is a bit much, since you can only change the station, not their playlist

then again that is just me and most of the radio stations don't even start the carols till december 1st
