Before anyone could go, a cop flew thru the red light. Then when he was mostly thru the intersection he turned on his flashing lights then turned them off when he was passed the intersection.
Driving in the "fast lane" on a highway and a cop not too happy with our speed turns his lights on, we move over, and he speeds off and turns the lights off.
Same thing at the lights.
I asked FBINL (future brother in law) about it as he's a cop. He said in a lot of the cases this happens because they have been told the situation they are going to requires them to have no attention drawn to them but the urgency is still there.
But he's also just starting out so I'm sure he's just a TAD bias, and innocent of what "other" reasons this happens.
I am evil, I should change my middle name legally TO evil, I'm proud of my evilness!Makes life fun! bwhaha
My little brother had a recent one (can't remember if I posted it)
anyways He was making a left turn at a light from the right hand left turn lane. There was a cop opposite of him making a right turn. Well my brothers light turns to a green arrow and the cop had to yield (like you're supposed to on red right turns) Then pulls him over and tells him that he's supposed to give way to the person turning right and get into the most convienient lane. Which would require him to change lanes in the middle of a turn in the middle of an intersection. (Because staying in your current lane isn't convienient?)
Last I checked changing lanes in an intersection is ILLEGAL.
It's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care. -Office space
I almost got hit by what I can only assume was a plainclothes cop car today. Parking lot for the library, I make a turn at an intersection. I stop because the person in front of me has stopped at a Stop sign. They move on, and I'm ABOUT to move forward, then this car that was going the opposite direction (towards me on the left side) suddenly turns DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME! I hit the brakes and it STILL almost hit me. Then the red and blue lights come on inside the car and the siren starts up.
But still, for serious? Anyone else would get a ticket for a maneuver like that. That car turned right, and I was going left so all I saw was another cop car speeding down the direction that one took. But seriously, like you couldn't even WAIT until I was safely through the intersection before making a U turn? You just HAD to rush off and endanger someone else's property with no warning, not even a bloody TURN SIGNAL?!

The ratio of the good reason being used vs the bad reason being used depends on the department but hopefully it's more often the good reason.
I had an officer come to my house one day and talk to me and my parents because according to him, I drove through a barricaded street. The street had in fact been barricaded earlier for a parade, but was open when I drove through. I had two other passengers in the car with me who verified that it was not still barricaded. He made a big deal about how he was only giving me a warning but that I should make sure not to do that in the future. There wasn't really any point arguing it (though if he had tried to give me a ticket, I would have).
My former bosses husband is a retired big city cop. On his way to pick boss up from work he had one of the local small town cops run up on his bumper turn on his lights, force him to the shoulder, and then zip around him. The small town cop was apparently headed to the mall and my bosses husband ended up behind him at the next red light they encountered.
Bosses husband got out of the car approached the small town cop cruiser knocked on his window and asked what he had been pulled over for, the very young officer was apparently too startled to come up with a coherent response. Bosses husband then identified himself gave his former badge number and asked if small town cop was on a run and if so why had he choosen to stop at this light? Small town cop stated he was not on a run but went around him because he could *wrong answer young one*
Bosses husband then began to recite law and ohio revised code to small town cop who began hollering at him that he didn't know what he was talking about and he, small town cop, was in the right. The light changed and the cop took off and headed into the mall and stopped 3 stores away from our store. Bosses husband of course stops in front of our store, small town cop now confronts him about "following him" bosses husband excuses himself and dashed into our store long enough to toss AsM his keys so boss can home cause he has a feeling he's getting arrested. They apparently traded insults on the sidewalk and bosses husband reported small town cop to his supervisor for "abuse of power" Bosses husband did not get arrested. I do believe he was actually slightly disappointed he was not arrested.
I swear the above is all true. Former bosses husband is a larger then life character. He also was fond of reminding the security guards of their very limited powers, in a very vocal manner. Most of them were decent guys but a few were too big for their britches and he had such an eloquent way of bringing them down to size. I am honestly secretly disappointed that a customer was never rude to any of us while bosses husband was in the store. They would have gotten pwned on a mythical level
