Stores that require minimum purchase using Visa

Just to let you know,
If you work at a store and your owner requires a minimum purchase amount for a customer to be allowed to pay by Visa then they are violating Visa's merchant agreement. Just found a second store that does that crap.

I just tell the merchant to run the sale at his CC minimum. Then I call CC company and ask that the charge be reduced to the actual transaction amount.

Never had a problem getting the over-charge refunded. Often, they'll even waive the entire amount.

I think the merchant then gets a letter reminding him of the contract terms he is supposed to follow.

But, yeah, it's annoying.

Right then. We've had a go-around more than once on this topic, with hard feelings all around, and there's no actual details on here, so to prevent the inevitable argument of "employee in fear of losing job" vs. "a contract was signed" we'll just leave it here.
