I stopped at Target last night on my way to The Parental Units' Dinner and Laundry Emporium (new service: they now do car repair estimates for the extremely reasonable fee of picking up milk! And they even provide a free loaner car! ) and I overheard this conversation between a mom and her daughter who looked to be about seven. Read the daughter's lines in your best I-didn't-really-mean-it little-kid voice.
M: Is that a nice thing to say? That I'm a mean mommy?
D: Well, I thought you were but now you're not!
M: Why, because I wouldn't let you buy something? That's not nice.
D: I still love you!
