I truly wouldn't be surprised if I ever saw a sign like that at my current place of employment.

My favorite was SALE -- $1.98 buy one get one free.

              The original price was $.79.

Extra addition to all the US/UK people: Australia does not have 1c or 2c pieces anymore.

                But still....

EDIT: Edible, have you considered reading the back of any Choice magazines? They are chock full of those sorta things, it's funny

For the US people, Choice is basically a consumer information magazine, they test items, inform people of safety standards and such. They don't badmouth any place, only the manufacturers. They don't go into the typical "haggle prices" type stuff that other people do. The back cover is called "The Hard Word" and has stuff like the above.

Leave the original price off the sign, or at least shrink it some more, and I bet it would sell like hotcakes.

I hate to say that I have seen way too many similar "sale" signs around here, lately. One grocery chain in Austin in particular has them quite often.

I saw one at a Toys "R" Us where it was a guitar.
                      Original: $99.99
                      New sale price: $119.99

Similar thing this weekend. I was browsing shoes online. Banners all over the site about the current sale (there's always some kind of sale at this site), lots of prices struckthrough and new sale prices below in red. Tempting, except that the pair of shoes I was interested in were marked, "Originally $59.99 to 64.99, On Sale $64.99 - $69.99." Yes, I reread it three times, then

reminds me of a misprint in a flyer for the NEX - the sale price was higher.
at least i hope it was a misprint.
