Sometimes life is altered.
Break from the ropes your hands are tied.

U.S. citizens can put themselves on something called the National Do Not Call List. It takes 30 days for everything to be processed, but it's worthwhile. Any telemarketer who violates that list risks some nasty fines.

I'm on the list myself. It makes my life a helluva lot easier.Last edited by Mike Taylor; 03-15-2009, 12:58 AM."Sigh, I'm going to Hell.....but I'm going with a smile on my face." -- Gravekeeper

Quoth IT Grunt View PostI get those constantly on my cell phone no less, and I have no idea where they got the number. "This is the 2nd notice that the factory warranty on your vehicle is about to expire." Uh huh. a) My car and my truck are both 10 years old... warranty on them has been LONG gone. b) It's been the 2nd notice IN ALL 50+ CALLS!!
My other car I did have a factory extended warranty I purchased through the dealer/manufacture and it expired in 2007, but none of the mailings sent to me were from chrysler so I knew right there it was all bogus. They go through the shedder and become cat box stuffin'.
Tell them its a cell phone and stop calling and get your Cell phones on the Do Not Call list already!

Quoth Taboo View PostLately I've been getting something similar - calls from a fake debt collection agency. They transfer you straight to a computer system that wants you to enter things like your credit card number, code on the back, etc 'before' speaking to anyone. Pretty bad job at a scam if you ask me.
There is absolutely nothing I would be in debt over. My family pays my college bills; the only things that I pay for are groceries and art materials. My rent, utilities, etc are payed through the summer. My online banking statements show that I still have a lot of money in there.
I think the name of the company is Allied Interstate. the tend to be very persistant. the only thing we can think is that maybe her daughters ex-boyfriend has some outstanding debt (lived with daughter and Mom for a while) or one of her relatives has a debt and they are calling all relations.Last edited by Racket_Man; 03-15-2009, 07:39 AM.I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

Quoth Arcade Man D View PostWhich is hilarious because, at least in the US, the Fair Credit Collections Act just completely negated that debt, if that's the case.
this company has been fined, sued, investigated, alien anal probed and still just keeps on with the very shady practicesI'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

All my numbers are on the DNC list.
The company that will lower your Credit Card doesn't give a flying flip.
I have pressed 1 gotten the company name and said I was going to report them. and the person just started cussing at me. Ahh the joy of making it worse . . .I got to report to the Police Department on that one. (In my city there is a law that allows for this report)
As for the Car Warranty - I get those on my cell every now and then. . . of course if I don't know the number I am not taking the call - why waste my minutes if I don't know you?

Quoth sixums View PostThe worst part is is that they have been HOUNDING me. I get at least one call from places like that a day. My phone number isn't listed anywhere on the internet except for Facebook, and I'm starting to think that's the cause. I really wish there was a way to ignore that crap.
if they start calling again i will start screwing with them real bad though.DILLIGAF
