I've got a stock reply of "Not too bad, what can I do for you today?"

Quick, answers their question, and gets them to think "hey, I have to get the hell off this guy's line soon, i should tell them what's going on"
Same here. Regardless of how I'm really doing, I give a "not bad" and maybe an elaboration if I've just gotten over being sick or something, and then ask how I may help them.

      My stock replies are:

      "Hanging in there."

      "Surviving."

and, "I was doing better, but then I got over it."
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

"Looking down at the dirt is better than up at the dirt any day."
Any day you're looking down at the dirt instead of up at the dirt is a good day.
