I was at one of my favorite places to shop besides Goodwill when I heard an announcement over their speakers.
Basically, a manager announced for staff to watch for people switching tags in various areas of the store. If the spotted said switchers, they were to be escorted from the store immediately.
I couldn't believe that people ACTUALLY do this. I mean, you're only paying a couple of dollars per item for your typical clothes, maybe more for suits, dresses, etc. Do you really have to steal from a THRIFT STORE!!??
I asked the cashier about the annoucement later. She said that a few minutes before the annoucement someone had attempted to buy shoes with a sticker for $1.99. But there is a code system for knowing the price of every item, and it's written somewhere on the item, so the cashier could tell the shoes had actually been priced at $4.99 and told the very nervous woman buying them so. The woman ended-up paying the price and fleeing the store. The cashier said the same thing happened earlier with a very nice shoulder purse that a woman tried to change the price to $1.99.
The people stealing will have a 'very special' place to go when they die. Doubly so I think because I also learned from the cashier that the money they take-in goes to medical funding!!!
