There is a firehouse around the corner from my house, directly across from a shopping center with grocery stores, restaurants, fast food, etc.
If the guys from the fire house want to get food from a restaurant, they call ahead and the manager will have the food waiting for them (for free) when they get there, so they can eat in or to-go, their choice.
If they have to leave mid-meal, them managers will box it up and have one of the employees walk across and deliver it to the firehouse so they can re-heat it when they get done.
If they're at the grocery store when they get a call, they just tell a store employee where they left their cart and if there was anything frozen/refrigerated in it.
Some random customer (I've done it once) will pay for their stuff and the store will put it in the cooler until they can come get it.
If the store closes before they return the manager will walk it over to the firehouse and put the bags in their fridge for them.
Thankfully, I've never needed their services, personally, but several members of my family have. My brother spent 3 years as a volunteer EMT(basic) and I heard from him some of the things that people do to emergency personnel, just for the heck of it!

Reason: clarity
Ah, therein lies the rub! These people aren't capable of thinking, or at least critical, rational thinking. They believe that the world should work just like they want it to and if it ever doesn't, they throw a huge fit over it. Even if it's something small.
Hmm...I'm suddenly reminded of a certain ranchaholic...
