    *sigh*

Parents SUCK nowadays (for the most part. I'm aware that there's a small minority of GOOD parents out there :P).

I'd like to see that lady try to sue the store 'they have unsafe carts.' 'miss there's a warning on the cart stating not to do what you ALLOWED your children to do'.... "but me wantee monies!!!'

Unfortunately for this lady she can sue all she wants, but because warning signs were clearly posted on the carts, there's nothing that can be done.
That's not necessarily true everywhere, unfortunately. I read a news article a while back about a man who had gotten really seriously drunk. He was so drunk that not only did he get lost in the hotel he was staying in, he decided that the locked, metal security door in a stairwell (festooned with warning signs and an employees only sticker) must be the exit. So he forced it open, climbed inside, and got lost in the machinery space behind it. While inside, he managed to cut himself so badly on an operating ventilation fan (he had to force the blade guard away to be able to reach the blade) that he bled to death.

His family sued the hotel, and won. The court found the hotel to be partially to blame, and ordered restitution be paid to the family.

Because in the face of horrific tragedy the only thing that will ease the pain is a big wad of cash.

I am curious to hear if there was an appeal from the hotel in that case. Many ridiculous court cases are eventually overturned or reduced on appeal, but you don't hear about that part often.

... Am I the only one bothered b y the fact that everyone was pleasant, polite, and deferring to this woman and her brats?

I hate this, that this is what 'Customer Service' has become. The idea that the customer being upset must be avoided at any cost, even if they're being destructive, unreasonable, or flat out insane.

If someone came to visit you, and they and their children did this sort of thing in your house, you would kick them the hell out. And I suspect in days past, they'd be suitable chastized.

But nowadays, they NEVER HAVE TO BE WRONG. As long as you have an unswerving belief in your own rightness, even in the face of overwhelming evidence, you can scream, yell, and tantrum loud enough to get someone to agree with you.

I hate it. Comeuppance shouldn't be eventual, like the likely misery this woman will have when she gets old and it's time for her to rely on her kids... it should be immediate, like that toppled shopping cart. And without any apologies or lawsuits.

Oh I agree with you. It's because 99% of ANY business nowadays are owned by corporations who dont CARE about people (be it their customers OR their employees... Especially their employees). They just care about the money they're getting. So... You're right customers service is 'OMG we cannot possibly let ANYONE walk away upset or else we would lose $25'

Yes, that’s right. It’s a pair of gold foil headphones. Gold foil. Finally, headphones just as awful as your taste in music.
