As well as the African and Australian diamonds, there are apparently also diamonds mined in Brazil, Russia and India.
Don't forget that Canada is the 3rd largest diamond producer in the world these days, eh?

I agree, me personally as a woman I hate diamonds, to get them to shine pretty you have to mount them which makes the ring cumbersome and clunky. I want something I can easily slip my hand into my pocket with and it doesn't get caught.... I was thinking something simple like a nice black hills gold design... no stones. .
I agree with not wanting to snag rings on stuff. When DH and I got our rings, we found them at a pawn shop, and I chose mine from the men's rings. I have a nice, wide, flat band with 5 inlaid channel-set diamonds.
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

My wife had to deal with similar treatment back when we she went shopping for a wedding dress along with my mom and my grandma. They went to this one shop, and not only were they rude and unhelpful, they wouldn't tell her any prices until she signed a contract agreeing to actually buy a dress there.

Well, that certainly wasn't going to happen, so they took their business elsewhere, to a place where they were a lot more polite and helpful. As luck would have it, they found a dress for only about $600.

Is that even legal? I mean, yeah, software shrinkwrap licenses can be similarly up (since you can't see the EULA until you've opened up the package/wrapper/etc, and if you don't accept it you can't return opened software), but software ain't dresses.

(I shall decline to make any "soft" jokes regarding cloth or flesh. "Don't tase me, bro" is not a phrase I ever want to have to utter, thank you very much. )

              Bastards.

Somewhat along those lines... I got a similar response from a certain "Minutes from the Mall" Chevy dealer by the county airport. I'd just totaled the Tempo, still had the neck brace on, and wasn't in the mood to deal with shit. Dad and I were driving around looking at used cars when we went to that place.

One of the sales gophers said that unless I was buying a car that day, he wasn't even going to bother walking the lot with us. At that point, I lost it...and went off on the guy His manager came out, and got a similar rant. As we were leaving, another sales guy came out, and said he'd let me test-drive whatever I wanted Needless to say, that Geo Storm got hammered--I'm sure it wasn't used to cornering on three wheels... Needless to say, I didn't buy a car from them.

Still, it bugs the hell out of me that anyone, who lives or dies by a sales commission...would choose to act like that. I mean, it's like throwing money away--if I get such treatment, I don't get pissed (for the most part ), I just go somewhere else, and will avoid such places. There are far too many shops that will *gladly* take my money...and will kiss my ass to get it
