Last night I decided I didn't want to deal with fixing something to eat before work and that I'd stop at McDonalds on the way to work. Now the two easiest ways for me to do that and still get my nightly caffeine fix (read into that 64 ounces of sweet diet pepsi goodness) is to either stop at 7-11 on my way to McDonalds then go straight from McDonalds to work or go to McDonalds first and stop at Chevron between McDonalds and work... last night proved why I should stick to doing the latter.
Now, I'm used to variations in pricing on refill cost, even at Chevron which is normally the best will very between 95cents and $1.06 depending on who rings me out... but I'm figuring that's a good estimate on what it should cost me at 7-11... right...
Apparently not, the cashier there tried to tell me the refill cost is $2.17
Yup, twice the cost of Chevron, and for that matter, over 50cents more than just buying a new cup. Now, I don't hold it against the cashier for putting in the wrong price... it happens... what bothers me is the cashier argued with me when I said that didn't sound right. I know I sound SCish for arguing over a dollar, but there is a point when one can legitimately say that it is the principle of the matter, especially when refilling a cup costs more than just buying a new
cup. Oh yeah, and the sign by the fountain said even that the price of my refill for 64 ounces should be 99cents plus tax... or $1.06... so the clerk was wrong anyway.
