Tipping situation - advice?

    I just hate the assumption that someone is supposed to supplement the income of someone who doesn't do their job or is purposely lousy at it. If someone is purposely rude or neglectful as a server, they don't deserve a tip at all IMO.

      The thing is though, if the food prices go up, so will your tip automatically. For example:

      (I'm going to use 10% here because I suck at math and it's easiest)

      Say my meal used to cost $7.00. I would have paid $0.70 as a tip. Now the same meal is $8.00 because costs went up. I'm now paying $0.80 as a tip, not the original $0.70.

      Someone please correct me if my math-reasoning is off here
