Why some of us from the Midwest are suspicious of tracking.

The problem some us, that live out here in the midwest, have are the people you elect to government. We see (names removed) and figure you are all a bunch of socialists/commies. Where I live, anything that comes out of Washington DC, Massachusetts, New York, California, Illinois, and a few other places is, as a general rule, treated as suspicious unless it can be shown otherwise. These states are known here to many people here as the Socialist States, again based primarily on the restrictive laws of those states (Massachusetts wanting to ban BB guns for example.) and some of the politicians that are elected from there. (Quite a few jokes too that I dare not post here.)

Not trying to start a debate or anything. Just stating my view on why some of us view some of these things with suspision. We also let you try out the new stuff. If it works, we adopt it too. If it crashes and burns, we can point and laugh.

We voted Illinois out of the Midwest? Wow! So, did we invite anyone to take their place? Moved Minnesota from being an honorary member to being a real one?

(Having lived in Illinois, I know why we did it... I just want the details!)

OK, you got me on that one. TECHNICALLY it is Chicago that is the "problem", however Chicago seems to run the whole state. On the other hand, there are quite a few laws in that state that are quite overly restrictive. Not going to say anything more because I said I wasn't going to start a debate, just present an observation.

No arguments about Chicago. I've met wonderful people from there... but the two days I was there, it seemed like everyone had come down with a bad case of the grumps. I ran into more attitudes and surliness than I encountered the rest of the summer. Maybe it was because I was dealing with government agencies and other downtown people, but still...

Oh, and the traffic in Chicago sucks. Bad. One day I was returning from a service call at work, late at night, trying to find something on the radio to keep me awake. I found this AM station from Chicago (lots of power in the transmitter-- this was five hours drive time away!) that had a traffic report, at 11PM Chicago time!

That's exactly what I was thinking, Wagegoth. Never mind who "they" are...who are "you" that "they" would be interested in you?
I found a great button at Newbury Comics yesterday...a neighborhood-watch type eye image with "Currently under surveillance" underneath I gave one to my mom and she wants me to find more to give to people.
