i was out shopping today. i was at the local Kohl's store. This customer came up to me and asked me how i could afford to shop here since i work at walmart. she went on and on about how poor i have to be.

well if that didnt piss me off enough about 20 mins later i get a tap on the shoulder. i turned around and this guy says he is the manager in charge and that some lady insisted i took her purse. i was like WTF. guess which lady it was....thats right the same lady that called me poor.

i almost started to cry. i told the manager the whole story of what happened.

that lady got kicked out and i got a $100 gift card......haha i win

OMG! I ... have ... no words. I'm so sorry!

And what is that woman on? Kohl's is always having sales every day of the week. Plus, if you have a Kohl's credit card, they send you coupons in the mail where you can save 15%, 20%, or even 30% off of your entire purchase!

Kohl's is pricier than Wal-Mart and Target, but not as pricey as Macy's and JcPenney's!

I'm glad to hear that she got kicked out and a $100 gift card? That is just awesome!

    Some people ... they're just ... stupid.

Also, if the woman is a regular at your Wal-Mart, I'd suggest you tell your boss what happened and see if she can be banned from there as well.

If she knows you work at wal-mart, I suspect that there is going to be some massive suckage the next time she's at wal-mart when you are working.

If I had to guess, I'd say she was setting you up. She picked someone she thought LOOKED like they were poor and more likely to steal her purse.
Then she got close enough to you so that passersby and/or cameras would see you close to her. Then she went to management so report you and then complain to them how horrible their store is and the only thing that would make her feel better is a great big gift card.

        Too bad it didn't work.

definitely tell your boss about this gem; i agree with the sense that she'll be in soon and causing you trouble over her actions.

Agreed, let him know what happened and ask him to call the other boss at Kohl's about it. Maybe she will get banned from both and be really screwed.

I hate when people make assumptions that we must not have much money because we work in retail. I've casually mentioned to a person that I own a house and then had them go off about how it's no wonder drug prices are so high if they pay me enough to be able to own a house. On the other hand I've heard people complain about how ridiculous it is that our tax money pays for Medicaid after they see a customer leave the pharmacy with a cartful of diapers or formula. It makes no sense. They don't want the store to pay me enough to make a middle-class living, but then they bitch about high taxes to pay for welfare programs because some people are poor?

On a side not about Kohl's. That is my favorite store to shop at for clothes. I have a Kohl's MVP card and so I get tons of coupons for 20% or 30% off all year round. I buy clearance priced clothing with my coupons and get good quality clothes at an amazing price. Not because I'm poor, but because I'm getting bargains.

But the main thing that first lured me to Kohl's was their coupons. I used to be an avid shopper at another dept. store. When Kohl's issues a coupon, you can use it on everything in the store. The other dept stores always have about two paragraphs of stuff written on the coupon that is excluded. It's too complicated to figure out what I can and can't get and then the stuff I want ends up being excluded anyway. When I go to Kohl's I can pick out anything I want and not worry about whether or not it will be discounted.

                  That is just disgusting!

I think I'd let your Wal Mart Manager know, in case that woman tries to gun for you again. That is just so wrong. Lucky that the Kohls I know have sweet security camera set-ups!

First I thought she was rude and mean, now I realize she's a scammer. Good thing about letting management know (thanks everyone for thinking the same!) but I'd also ask personnel if they can add comments to your employee file. Nothing like a paper trail to cover your ass. Even if you work with awesome managers, WM has a reputation for screwing over employees whenever it's convenient. Less of a WM thing and more of a retail thing, I'm afraid.

And giving hell for shopping at Kohl's or owning a house? Because I worked at WM (2nd job), I managed to pay off my big bad student loan, pay off my car, get my own apartment and get a cat (yay!). Couldn't have done it otherwise. People will always make certain assumptions, that doesn't mean one should speak them.

thanks about the comment about putting it in my file i will deff do that today.

i was told by my neighbor that if i can afford to drive a suv than i get paid too much. i was told that if WM paid less prices would go down.

She's not a scammer- she was just being helpful! She knew you worked at WalMart and therefor, you are poor. So she felt bad and simply came up with a way of getting you $100.
