*WG pulls out a sizable wad of bills, most of which are 50s and 100s*
WG: I'll buy it from you for $8,000!
Me: It's NOT for sale. Quit asking.
    WG: $9,000!
Me: *impatiently* NO! I'm not selling it. For ANY price. Go away.
Next time, quote him a price that you are willing to sell it for, say maybe $90,000.00 or higher.

High enough to buy yourself a fully-working one with a nice profit.

        LOL!!!

In High School, my friend's mom had a 1960's VW bug. It was going to be hers our senior year. She even bought the closest, most viewable parking space in the student lot so that it could be safer. People were always knocking on their door asking to buy it. And after all that, the car sat in the driveway, untouched all year long. Her paranoid, overprotective mom wouldn't let her drive it, not because she didn't trust my friend. It was always some weird excuse, but she always made it sound like she would get the car soon. And that parking space at school sat empty all year long.

My father-in-law inherited a mint condition El Camino that he is in the process of... well, not restoring, because it's in fantastic condition, but lets say... upgrading?

So far he has dropped in a new motor that is high performance, totally chromed the car out with new rims and detail, put in new interior including dash and seats.

Lately he's been in a mind melt about what colour to have it painted. At first it was 2 tone black/blue, then it was all black, then blue, but lately he has been getting comment after comment as well as crazy offers to buy it (though he wouldn't sell it for any amount) even with the old school 2 tone green paint job from the 60's. So now he's debating whether to just leave it the colours it is or not.

Just a note of caution; if you keep referring to the car as "MY" car and your wife as "THE" wife, your wish to be buried in your car may come sooner than you think. lol!!!
maybe he considers the car to be property and his wife a person
