My co-worker told me about this incident which happened yesterday on her shift.
The first week of fall semester has been very busy during my shift & during her shift.
Campus police direct traffic in the street in front of the meter lot which is owned & operated by the city as well as the traffic entering & exiting the faculty/staff garage. After 5 p.m. Visitor parking was full.
A student arrives at the Visitor parking booth window & tells my co-worker that she cannot find any parking, & she will be late for her class. At that point there were no available spots inside Visitor parking, & so my co-worker told her the garage was full. So the student asked her where else she could park. She suggested meter parking.
The student went over there, but could not find any parking. Then campus police arrived, & they would not let anyone enter the meter lot because it was full.
The student tried to find other parking, but she returned & tried to park at the meter l lot, but campus police would not let her enter the lot because it was full.
So she returned to the Visitor parking booth & told my co-worker...
"I am pissed off. Campus police will not let me park at the meter lot, & so I called the city non-emergency phone number to complain."
"Where else can I park?"
"I am late for my class."
It was almost 6 p.m., time for my co-worker to clock out, & so she told her she could park in Visitor parking, but she has to pay the $5.00.
She said "ok, fine, whatever", & she entered the garage.
