  • Feel sorry for employees at ...

    A certain company that I'll call K. Anybody seen the new commercials? "Return anything for any reason, no receipt is no problem?" *shivers* I can just imagine the stories we will here because of that. The only GOOD thing that might come of it is, the employees shouldn't get any grief..but you know that isn't going to happen.

    With a policy like that, I doubt they are gonna stay in business very long

      "Return anything for any reason, no receipt is no problem?"
      SC:"I'd like to return this jug of milk."
      EMP:"What's wrong with it?"
      SC:"I finished it."

      Any reason, right?

        That is what the commercials say. Though this place is not known for carrying groceries.

          K = Staples?

          (Sounds like the policy they had when I worked there - we even took back things we didn't sell (well, I did get a $200 video accelerator card for $20 out of it!)

          Or is it the distant cousin of "Shop Smart, shop S-Mart!"

            On the New York Stock exchanges has the store I am talking about listed as KSS . I've seen this commercial for them several times, but so far not on Youtube or someplace I can link (yet).

              K = Kohls

              Saw the commercial last night about returns for anything without receipt. There has to be some kind of catch though that wasn't mentioned or else I don't see why I can't return mad old clothes that look decent for cash.

                I haven't seen the commercial, but I have heard the radio commercials.

                I always knew that Kohl's had a very lax return policy, but I thought it was a secret. That they're advertising it ... I'm not sure what to think.

                It could be a nightmare, but I'm sure the people in charge have everything covered. Right? Right?

                  RETURNS WARNING

                  Not sure where to post this, please move it if I'm wrong...

                  Anyway, I was watching TV last night and a commercial came on for Kohl's. Return Anything. Anytime. No receipt, no problem....

                  I just about coughed in my Coke... Poor folks in retail!!! Don't the Corporate goons realize what they've opened themselves up for? They're going to have every scammer, EW, butthead and butthead's first cousin there at the returns counter. And the little regular folks are going to have to deal with them.

                  Dirty old socks? No problem. Old clothes bought somewhere else and worn for two months? Sure, why not. Home goods covered in cookie dough? Take it all back...

                  And, they did this right before the big Holiday shopping season... Being that stores tend to follow other stores' leads, I wanted to warn the people who work retail - this might become a trend. Warning, Will Robinson!

                    Obviously, whomever came up with this idea has never had the "pleasure" of processing a return when the customer has no receipt or price tag for the item(s) in question.....with bonus points if it's something which isn't in the system anymore. (which would be one thing which I do NOT miss about working at Macy's.....although to be fair, not every customer in that scenario was sucky about it)

                      I think they're going to be nickel-and-dimed by every returns scammer out there. And they deserve it.

                      I also think this causes people to expect the same lax return policies everyplace else, and rain suck down upon the employees when they find out very few places are spineless like that.

                        Having worked at Nordstrom, I feel I must say a prayer for the poor Kohl's employees.

                          My mom works at the store, and if there is no receipt, then it is returned at the lowest price it was sold at, and many things to to clearance after not much time on the floor, which does get customers annoyed at the person behind the desk.

                          I work at a grocery store that also has a 'hassle free' returns policy. I don't work at the desk, so I don't do returns, but I have had to go in the back and throw out things that had been returned that are no longer sell-able. At a location that was busy during summer vacation that I worked at, and listening to other co-workers there, at the end of the season they would get a lot of returns with price stickers from other grocery stories in the area.

                            I bet a lot of you in retail were wishing you were over here in England. I've never heard of anyone being able to return something without the receipt and when an item is returned they mark the receipt to show it has been refunded.

                            That policy is pretty much universal across England as far as i'm aware (a couple of independant shops might have their own policies) and makes thing s so much easier.

                            I'd dread working in Kohl's with that policy, though i'd never throw anything out, i'd just return it.

                              One of my sisters works there. They do indeed accept returns without receipt. The other day she told me there was a pair of men's shoes in the Returns bins, covered with mud (the shoes, not the bin!) Yep, they had to take them back.

                              They also accept returns on underwear. Just sayin'....take that any way you want to...
