Before the entire night of chaos last night, my girlfriend and I store-hopped to pick some stuff up for work tonight. The first stop was an independent store where I usually get my smokes. I go inside, and the first thing I notice was... bleh. Ever see a 6-foot-something guy, bald, seriously overweight, wearing a stained wife-beater shirt and shiny purple tights? What makes matters worse is the fact that since I just needed cigarettes, I had to stand behind him in line. All of a sudden, the display of pipes and incense by the register seemed infinitely more interesting...

Sorry, but while I can do many things, extracting heads from anuses isn't one of them. (so sayeth the irv)

I've got a friend like this- all her clothes are ill-fitting and frumpy, and she has no clue of how to dress. She just slops her clothes on however. She doesn't check to see if anything's bunched up or hanging awkwardly, just slops everything on, piles on way too many mismatched layers, and accessorizes with ratty thin scarves bunched around her neck. NOT good. It's even worse when she tries to cosplay with me- she has NO CLUE how to put on a Jedi-style tunic. One side will be bunched up around her waist, the other side hanging free. Or she will just let one side hang straight down, and try to pull the other side waaay too far over to compensate. And then she wonders why it looks wrong. I'm getting sick of practically having to dress her when we go out.

I've seen one like that ... late middle-aged man, hair done up in a perm, wearing "tammy Faye-Baker make-up", high-top sneakers and a ladies swim suit (bottom only)... and this was in my store. It's a tough row to hoe, and I'm just the Joe to hoe it.

muh.
The extent of bad fashion 'round here, discarding hipsters (the irony eats itself, like evil does) and wannabes for various scenes (emo kids trying to be hardcore, I'm looking at YOU), it's really only flannel-types or smelling of cows.
Then again, the Mormons are too conservative to truly be fashion disasters. Old-school, yes on occasions, but hideously so? Nah. (THANK GOD)
EDIT: say what you will about conservatism, but wanting things to be laid back and non-cutting-edge has its' advantages."Is it the lie that keeps you sane? Is this the lie that keeps you sane? What is it?Can it be?Ought it to exist?"
"...and may it be that I cleave to the ugly truth, rather than the beautiful lie..."

Quoth blas View Post99% of people I see wearing skinny jeans need to be arrested for public indecency.
Men and women.
So gross. It's little things that make the difference between 'enjoyable', 'tolerable', and 'gimme a spoon, I'm digging an escape tunnel'.

re: skinny jeans-- I'm not able to get them past my mid-calf. ... yay?? I have way too many curves. It makes pants without a belt annoying... almost every pair of pants I have gap at the top. Skirts on the other hand, are just fine, once I can find the right drape off my rear and thighs, but I generally don't wear them. I hate shaving my legs, and no, panty hose does jack all for that.
re: pink old man ... i'm guessing he didn't pull the look off? I've seen old folks do outrageous, but rarely."Is it the lie that keeps you sane? Is this the lie that keeps you sane? What is it?Can it be?Ought it to exist?"

^-.-^Faith is about what you do. It's about aspiring to be better and nobler and kinder than you are. It's about making sacrifices for the good of others. - Dresden
