  • Someone is going to get fired for this

Hope this is in the right place

Hubs came home safely this morning and told me someone will be fired for what they did

Black friday preperations someone pulled out Epic Mickey and The new twilight movie that are not to be released until tuesday! and ALL OF THEM SOLD
(i know twilight new movie comes out tuesday not sure about the game)
so not only will the store be fined for breaking this but the person that did it will be fired out right.

They don't know who did it but they are finding out. Will find out tomorrow night as hubs is thankfully OFF tonight

Anyone taking bets it was a manager who ordered someone to put them out?

Not necessarily. Electronics specialist at the swamp has been caught putting out stuff before its release date. Nobody ever told him to do it. Why would you fuck your store over just to make a couple extra bucks?

Apparently those big, brightly-colored stickers on the boxes reading "DO NOT PUT OUT BEFORE XX DATE" leave some room for interpretation to some people.

from what I was informed no manager told anyone to do that as they had their hands full with another person on black friday before midnight who cut the plastic binds off the pallets of merch set out early and people started taking stuff. Which is fine except no one gets the sale prices until 12:01 am haha.

The other idiocy was that after about 2pm, there would only be two managers left for the rest of today...yeah i wonder where the person on schedule's head was at that day

And the plan was that there are tickets per big item electronics. when there are no more tickets there are no more items and if you wanted to get said item but still had shopping to do then you would be given a wrist band so that you could still shop instead of just having to stay in line.
Well a bag or two of tickets went missing...and no one, NO ONE could find it. nice
When I came in to drop of a prescription for DD alot of the pallets had hand written price signs taped to them. Guess they ran out of sign paper or pricing tape? or just stopped caring.
Was also upset as alot of people let alot of merch all over the place. There was a tricycle left in the middle of the pet food aisle. a small container of eggnog left on the book shelf. i wanted to hop in the PA system and say "attention W shoppers. if you cannot put your shit back where you found it then why is your lazy arse here?" or if you didn't want it then why did you get it in the first place?

What I know is that I got Sin City on DVD a whole MONTH before the release date when somebody an my local video shop put it out *in the "3 for £20" section*. I found out only a couple of days later, when I met the girl who worked at the counter and she told me.

I'll admit, I once bought a video game the day before it's "street date" at a Wally World. Their computer let the sale go through fine.

When I tried this again some years later, the system didn't let the sale go through. I just shrugged, put my wallet away, and said, "It's no problem. I'll just wait until tomorrow, then."

According to GameFAQs, Epic Mickey doesn't come out until the 30th, so ya someone broke a street date.

Really? I got it here in Ireland last Saturday. It's not bad for a Disney game actually....

Release dates can vary between countries. For instance, while you folks in the US have Nancy drew: Shadow At Waters Edge, it won't be released in Ausland until 2011. (that is a real game by the way, set in Japan)

According to Wikipedia (which I trust for this sort of information), it was released in the EU on the 25th. The US release date is today.

As Disney is pretty vicious about street dates, I can't imagine whoever is responsible will get away with it. I used to work for a transportation company that housed Disney product, and they would inspect every quarter to make sure that our security was up to snuff.

At this time, I'd like to toss some recognition for a job well done a co-worker's way. Because I've been told I don't recognize the contributions of others often enough. (Whaddaya mean? I recognize my co-workers' contributions every day! Specifically, they contribute extra work for me. So there. )

So now I'd like to give a shout-out, an atta boy, a thumbs-up, a Shrute buck to the swamp's electronics specialist. Thanks to his hard work, foresight, and dedication, we are number one in the company--not just the district, not just the region, the entire company--in sales of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie.

Awesome job! We couldn't have done it without you.

                              *****

Of course, by now those of you familiar with the the Twilight saga movies are saying "But wait a minute! That movie isn't out yet!" And you'd be correct. See, yesterday electronics specialist put out the special cardboard displayer for the movie, which in itself is a Very Bad Thing. Twilight fans are a special kind of obsessed. We're talking about people who will obtain cardboard cut-outs of the characters in the movies (most often Edward), take them to dances and proms, and brag about their "best date EVAR!!!!111!!oneone!eleven!" on Internet message boards. These people also cut themselves and never leave their bedrooms.

And then the guy working in electronics later that night--who mave have taken one too many shots to the head from his days as a high school football player--filled it up with the DVDs and Blu-Ray discs. At least he may not have known the movie wasn't coming out until Saturday. Electronics specialist damn well better.

So this morning the display and the movies were spirited back to the backroom. I kept watching throughout the day to see if he'd try to set them back up. He didn't.

If there is any consolation to be found here, it's that electronics specialist actually did something instead of sitting in the bathroom all day.
