  • Tis the season to be a slob!

I was at Target yesterday buying a couple of last minute items for the kids. As I was on the "Star Wars" aisle, a big woman came along with a cup in her hand, obviously bought from the little snack bar they have at the entrance to the store. I had to get out of this woman's way or be run over (like Grandma). Before that, I was looking at some of the toys and saw the shelf next to it was almost empty, probably cleaned out of whatever was previously there. Then, this woman went by, and after I went back to looking, I noticed a Target cup, the same cup this woman was drinking from, on this previous bare shelf. I then left the aisle, and a moment later, there was the woman, walking along, now with her hands free of her drink cup! It was apparent she had finished it, and instead of finding a trash can, she just deposited it on the shelf and went about her business. I almost picked it up and wanted to say, "Pardon me, maam, did you lose this?", but I just couldn't do it. Afterward, I later noticed someone else had left a McDonald's coffee cup on another shelf, and other cups as well were found.

    People are slobs nowadays!

I'm seeing more and more threads like this getting posted. I posted one myself last year.

Apparently there is an epidemic of suckiness trashthestoreum virus going around.

Symptoms include: lack of self-respect, lack of consideration for others, an irresistible urge to leave contaminated food and/or food containers lying on store shelves or on store floors, and an obliviousness to their surroundings.

Treatment: Various treatments have been attempted over the centuries including: proscription, the stocks, stoning, and boiling in oil. The FDA has disapproved these ancient treatments as ineffective (if satisfying). Current treatments include banning, but this also has limited effectiveness. Proposed treatments such as have been proposed but are still in clinical trials.

    Prognosis: Poor. The are everywhere.
They say that God only gives us what we can handle. Apparently, God thinks I'm a bad ass.

People are disgusting! Many moons ago, I worked at a Home Depot as an 'Orange Apron' assosciate. You know how many of those stores have a small restaurant in the front lobby? Mine had a Harveys. Sooooo many times when I was working, I would find discarded burger wrappers, half empty drink cups and sometimes wrappers with food still in it, just left (or shoved) on a random shelf. People don't care.

I absolutely do not get the whole "eat a burger while I'm clothes shopping" thing (or shopping anywhere, for that matter). I'm shopping! I need my hands free to pick things up! Of course, I was also brought up to believe that messing up someone else's property was a no-no, so there ya go...

Sis is pretty pissed that at her store, the associates are not allowed to have drinks out on the floor or at the register, but customers can come in with drinks, food, whatever. I think the only thing they can't bring in is a lit cigarette but that's due to a state law. I think if the store could get away with it, they'd let customers smoke, too!

I remember once at Store2, like 3 nights in a row I found a huge Burger King soda cup, nice and cold and fairly full, dripping condensation all over a shelf in the history section. Thanks for flooding out our books! Don't worry, I'm sure no one will mind the warped pages! We'll sell those no problem!

I was getting some art framed at a Ben Franklin's (Store goes by Creative Habitat now I think, but it's like a Michael's or AC Moore.) when the framing employee told me this gem: He'd spent almost an hour helping an artist pick out hundreds of dollars in matting, framing and glass for a big, beautiful watercolor the man had that was laid-out on the counter. It was a hot day in the summer. Some punk guy came-in off the street, past the cash registers (the framing section was at the front of the store in-line with the registers, so you could cash-out there with your frames), and SLAMMED a 36oz cold soda, splashing, with condensation dripping down the sides, down onto the counter and demanded to know where the bathroom was. The artist customer screamed and jumped the punk because of course, the guy had slammed his soda down right on the guy's watercolor painting! The police were called, but the employee didn't know exactly how it ended.

Thursday night at work, I was filling stuff off the truck and had to go get a new battery and labels for my printer.

When I returned, somebody had dropped an empty starbucks cup in my cart. That was a new one on me, I must say.

If I weren't on camera, and if I caught the person dumping it in the act, I probably would've hummed the cup at their head and then booked.

Part of my job is to find and remove the cups and wrappers consumers leave behind from 1) stolen candies and drinks and 2) the in-house restaurant.
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

                  Tell me about it.

Across the road from the front of my store, there's a van selling burgers, hot dogs etc. People visit the van and then come and wander around the store. When they've finished their food, well, you can guess..... It's not as if the van owner doesn't provide trash bins for the wrappers, he does.

But that would require actual consideration for others and walking. The spechul snowflakes can't have that now can they? (I refuse to use the word special to describe them ) Some people, I would say they were raised in a barn, but most barn animals are better behaved.
