  • Doc forgot about me!

I am so freaking livid, its NOT even funny. I went to the gyno today to get my results from my ultrasound and blood tests. Doc said everything was good, my ovaries were fine, etc. THEN she proceeds to scare me silly.

Throwing around words like cancer, infertility, surgery, sticking objects in hoohas. So, I'm sitting with a horrified expression. She said she'd be right back and that she was going to talk to her co workers and set stuff up with a specialist and all this shit. I had tons of questions and figured when she got back we'd discuss it.

I waited, and waited and waited. Thirty mins later I realized the place was closed. It was closing time and I was still there. I opened the door and the place was deserted. I saw red at that point. I saw a nurse.

Me: Uh, did she forget about me?

Nurse: Did you already see the doc?

    Me: Well, yeah but-

Nurse: Then you're free to go.

Me: Well, it would've been nice if she fucking told me! I've been waiting forever! And I have questions!

I shouldn't have yelled her but I was angry. I was scared and they forgot me!!! The nurse said something about the receptionist already gone and I just stormed out of there cursing.

The freaking parking lot was empty. She must have forgotten me and went on with her patients!!! I am still livid. I cried the whole way home.

Report her ASAP. That is not professionalism at all and leaving you in the room to wait for that long is not cool whatsoever.

Hell, what if the place and closed and no one was there? I'm sure you could call 911 to get you out but..damn.

I don't care what the hell her excuse is, that isn't the way to treat a patient. I've got a good doctor, even if I have to wait to see her (and it looks like I might if I don't feel better by Monday).

    DDD: Cuz it's cool

So, by using the Doctor's reasoning, bow ties, fezzes and bandanas are cool.

Sounds similar to my recent experience. I was livid as well and also cried the whole way home.

I'm really sorry this happened to you. Definitely report her to whoever you can...I ended up going all the way up the food chain to the director of family practices at the clinic I was going to. And I would definitely be looking for a different clinic/doctor ASAP. I hope all the stuff she was talking about regarding cancer and surgeries turns out to be fine. *big hugs*

How MUCH older, pray tell? That's both unprofessional and extremely RUDE to tell a patient with questions!

*Hug for Anakah* I hope you have a better experience with another doctor at a later date, hon, and this office of jerks gets a hard kick from Karma

I'm so sorry for you. I hope you straighten out that doc fast! I don't know who you report her to about her lack of professionalism (not to mention if you'd been locked in the building!), but find out who! That nurse wasn't any better.

For those interested, in the U.S., the proper reporting body is the state medical licensing board. Doctors tend to listen when you complain to the people who can take away their ability to practice in that state. Most state boards are also rather curt about not properly answering patient questions during an exam or before a procedure. Just be calm, honest, and reasonable when filing the complaint.

yes ... report to the medical board, especially since she told you some scary shit and then forgot about you...

                    that's fucked up.

I don't want to threadjack, but from my own experience: Bad doctors suck. Sorry you went through that.

That's even worse than what the PA did at my clinic (forgot to call in a prescription...twice). I did make a complaint, and now I always ask who I'm going to see for an appt. I don't want to deal with this guy again.

Oh jeez. x.x Reminds me of the time I had a doctor appointment in Denver, which is 4 hours away from Junction. I had been there for the yearly spina bifida clinic they did at the children's hospital (I was a minor at the time). It was supposed to be just a quick trip, but we were in the exam room for 2 hours with no sign of anyone. My mom went out to the reception desk to discover that everyone had gone to lunch without telling us.

*huge hugs* Sorry you had to go through all that.

Must've been the same PA who left me in tears and made me not want to go back to an OB/GYN for a long time. She decided it was okay to berate me for telling a nurse that she was pinching my arm when she took my blood pressure. Well, what am I supposed to say when the cuff was too small? She also made a big deal about me wanting my pills. Sorry, but no pills= me doubled over and crying every month.

I said the hell with it when they wanted to see me again and went to Planned Parenthood for a while (also because I had no insurance for a while). When that got to be impossible, as in the doctor made underhanded comments about my weight and about the fact that my dad died from a bad heart (hello! he smoked for 40 plus years and didn't take very good care of himself. His problems were not necessarily going to transfer to me!), I ditched Planned Parenthood and asked my doctor for a recommendation for an OB/GYN. So far things have been going okay. Hopefully they'll stay that way.

This is why my reply was so vehement. No one should do that and make someone feel that way. Any doctor who makes you feel scared throwing things around like cancer and then leaves you in a room only to forget you is not a doctor worth seeing again.

Not only should you report her to your state licensing board, but also report the clinic that she's associated with as they did not do a proper inspection before shutting down for the day. It only makes me wonder if she's done this to other people.

I kept getting told I wasn't old enough to get shingles. Well, you might've wanted to tell that to the case that decided to pop up on my face. I certainly could've done without it.
