I didn't know bathrooms could be locked from the outside. I thought they were supposed to be locked from within to ensure privacy.
I've actually been locked in a bathroom before by an abusive ex before. I don't really know how he did it, but I do know that it didn't stop me from getting out.

Maybe it was a bathroom in the lobby, and he stole the key from the front desk when he used a monkey to distract the clerk?

Here at the library, we have a deadbolt to the bathroom doors that can be locked by security from the outside. There is no lock to the door from the inside (the stall have latches, though). Security locks them before we close to make sure no one sneaks in and hides in the bathroom.

But...maybe he told her he locked the door, and she didn't try to see if it was really locked.

I was literally locked in the bathroom with no way out, helpless, begging him not to waste my minutes! And I didn’t realise that it was going to cost me so much money to call from Italy to Britain! After a couple of hours he finally let me out the bathroom and gave me my phone back. I was really annoyed that he was so spiteful and wasted my minutes.
Riiigght, so your husband goes nuts, locks you in the bathroom and your first thought is "oh no, don't waste my precious phone credits"

I wonder if that's a lost scene from Silence of the Lambs, somewhere between the "it puts the lotion on its skin" scene and the puppy falling down the hole, the bad guy steals Jodie Fosters' phone without her noticing and makes some long distance calls.

No doubt some poor customer service rep discover that the call have been made over the several days and this woman was either locked in a bathroom for the better part of a week (unlikely) or that she is full of shit (more likely). I feel sorry for whoever has to have that conversation with this raving loony.

She was definitely full of it, which pretty much proves she wasn't locked in a bathroom...never mind, that's kinda gross.

I especially love the constant references to the "expensive trip to Italy." Yeah, boo-hoo, what a hard life you have, lady.

he decided to lock me in the bathroom to get me out of the way, and while I was in there, he called all my friends internationally! I do not know why he did it. I was literally locked in the bathroom with no way out, helpless, begging him not to waste my minutes!

although it would serve her right for them get the police over to take her statement of wrongful imprisonment...

Doesn't matter whether it was her husband or not, whether she was locked in a bathroom or not, whether he used the minutes or she used the minutes.

The minutes were used, and the phone company incurred a cost and has a right to be paid.

Lady doesn't have a leg to stand on. I'll bet she was told, "pay up or we cut off your service and send you to collections," though probably in nicer terms.

Being full of shit, she obviously didn't take advantage of being locked in the bathroom.

I hadn't even thought about this and it would be more incriminating than what I posted on the first page. My objection sounds more fitting if this was an Encyclopedia Brown case.

I recently blew almost $1,000 texting and calling my Canadian bf from my home city in the U.S. I honestly had no clue it cost more (I thought unlimited calling and text ment unlimited calling and text) but I accepted the fact that I learned a very expensive lesson and paid the bill. It's not the phone companies fault I messed up. And "locked in the bathroom"? Creeeppyyyyyyyy! I'm pretty sure that's illegal in most countries.

Yup. "Unlawful imprisonment". Which is why I've been saying one of the possibilities (though extremely unlikely) is that her story is valid; in which case it's a matter for the police & legal system.

Those are her only options, though.
1 Legal system if her story is valid & she was falsely imprisoned.
2 Husband pays up if she decides to call it a prank he pulled on her.
3 She pays up if she's lying.

(I vote for option 3, myself.)

                      2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
                      3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
                      4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.
