Exactly. Same as how coupons work. I had customers whine at me at the wholesale club, "Why don't they just discount the item instead of making us cut out the coupon?"

And I told them, "Because then we'd lose more money. They're depending on not everyone cutting out the coupon and using it."

And they sulked, because they knew I was right.
