  • The drink machine is broken, stupid

So this is my first post outside of my introduction post so hi!

This evening I went down to the little campus store to procure some sustenance. While I was waiting in line with my microwaveable pizza and bagel chips I noticed a sign at the counter that says "The drink machine is broken. Sorry for the inconvenience."
And what is the next noise I hear? Yes, sure enough, it IS the "Hiss" sound of the drink machine. I turn around and see a kid trying to fill up his cup, completely ignoring the sign ON the machine saying the exact same thing as the one at the counter. *sigh*
The girl behind the counter calls to him and says "Excuse me, the drink machine is broken. There's a sign."
He says he "didn't see it".
Also, he had brought in a cup instead of ordering one. Now, they do re-fills here but I sense he was going to fill up and walk out without paying. However, his cunning plan was thwarted by his inability to read signs.

Further proof that most customers can't read signs. It's like when you put a sign on a door saying it's locked, and they ignore it and try that door anyway. Just plain ignorance and stupidity is what it is!

It's not that that they can't. They don't and/or won't read them. Or they do, but decide that they apply to everyone but them because they are so speshul.

Read them? You're lucky if they even see them. Last time our network died (taking with it our ability to service all product requirements, & any queries other than what we had personal knowledge of) I had large sign with 2" letters on in the centre of my window stating "Service Unavailable" - it was placed directly in front of my face.

I cannot count how many people stood on the other side of the counter & tried to look me in the eye straight through the sign in order to make a purchase...
