  • One of those conversations that should have remained private

You know how you're waiting in a reasonably busy retail establishment and someone's on their mobile phone? You know, at levels that mean people on the other side of the serving area can hear perfectly?

I had to tune this one out. Some gems include, however:

"He were only in for assault. They had no right!"

"They didn't get his clothes off him. He weren't that drunk."

"Yeah, he got his bail back."

I'm glad I tuned most of it out.

Oh yes, there are things that one just doesn't need to hear

I once saw (and heard!) a woman at one of the main bus stops in town - lots of people around 24/7 - loudly sobbing about her ex to someone on her cellphone ..

I heard that in my head with a Cockney accent.

On the bus home one night, a girl was having a long convo on her cell phone with her BF, who was apparently calling from jail. Lots of details about "you shoulda got rid of the dope, but you gave it to him and his ho..." and "What's your problem, I'm the one working, going to school and taking care of a kid..." Etc, etc. The whole bus was unusually silent during this soap opera....
When you start at zero, everything's progress.
