  • Did we have a national breakup that the media missed??

Relative is heading from Prairies to My Province via national airline. Airline manages to misplace ALL THE LUGGAGE ON THE PLANE, don't ask me how. Eventually they find most of it, but relative is missing one item. Airline says, "It's held up at customs ..."

Um ... this is an IN-COUNTRY FLIGHT.

Did the country break up in the past 48 hours and nobody noticed?

I think if an airline sends your luggage to the wrong place, they should offer you a free open-ended return trip ticket to that place.

Absolutely! Especially if said wrong destination is a nice tropical island with white sandy beaches and clear blue waters ...

Maybe they accidentally sent it to someplace in the U.S. ?

          Maybe it's Terry Pratchett Luggage?

That is one piece of luggage customs would never hold up, lest they find themselves inside the luggage.

I remember hearing that in the old days if you irritated the airline CSR at the ticket counter enough, your luggage could be Bombay'd. Your intinerary: LAX-SFO. Your baggage?
                LAX-TLV-ATH-IKA-KHI-JED-BOM-TOK-TPE-ICN-PEK-FNJ-SVO-MAD-HAV-MEX-JFK-SFO
Customs at at least half of the stops would analyze your baggage down to the individual threads.

Oh, The itinerary in human speak?
Los Angeles, Tel Aviv, Athens, Tehran, Karachi, Jiddah, Mumbai (Bombay), Tokyo, Taipei, Seoul, Beijing, Pyongyang, Moscow, Madrid, Havana, Mexico City, New York, San Francisco.

Nowadays, they just need to send it to any US airport unaccompanied and it will be TSA'd.
