Huh, that's strange. I've gotten a $5 footlong in a trio before. On the menu board, it says $2.20 added for a trio so that's what they do. Ring in the $5 and then put in the added trio.
Though it's been a few months since I've ordered.
That's how it is up here; the meal deal pricing is always listed as an "Add X$ to the price of the sandwich", and it (as far as I've noticed) always applied even if the sandwich is on sale.
